Administration Issues: The government of Province 1 has made the mid-term review book public on the occasion of completing half of its 5-year term. During the occasion, the Chief Minister of Province 1, Sherdhan Rai said that the provincial government has succeeded in building the administrative and legal structure, important bodies, provincial planning commission, and Public Service Commission so far.

Ward member of the Rapti Rural Municipality of Lumbini Pradesh has published a notice urging to stop illegal land transactions over Deukhuri area. On October 6, after Rapti Valley (Deukhuri) was finalized as the permanent capital, people’s attraction towards land there has increased. The land will be bought and sold only after the provincial government prepares the infrastructure and finalizes the cost of the land.

Corona Response: As the rate of Coronavirus infection is increasing daily, the situation in Province 1 is becoming more complicated due to the lack of ventilators and ICUs. Lots of Corona infected patients are in home isolation.

The government of Bagmati Pradesh spent Rs 480.28 million for the prevention and control of the Coronavirus so far. The province had distributed Rs 6 million to the metropolitan city, Rs 1.5 million to the sub-metropolitan city, Rs 1.2 million to the municipality, and 0.8 million to the rural municipality.

Similarly, the government of Lumbini Pradesh spent Rs 495.2 million for the prevention and control of the COVID-19 so far.

Despite the federal government’s decision not to cover the cost of testing and treatment for Corona infections, Lumbini Province is providing free treatment at all four Corona specialty hospitals in the province.

Development Issues: The Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment of Sudurpashchim Pradesh released Rs 4.5 million to airlift essential foods for distribution during Dashain and Tihar festivals.
