118 Nepali nationals working at US Embassy in Kabul were evacuated from Afghanistan a day after Taliban took control of Kabul by US troops. British Army has also rescued 437 Nepali who have currently landed in Britain and will be sent to Nepal through regular flights. Similarly, 256 other Nepali migrant workers who are stranded in Afghanistan have registered their names to the website of the Department of Consular services for rescue. PM Deuba has assured that the government would coordinate with concerned authorities to bring the citizens back home as undocumented Nepali are under high risk. The Nepali Embassy at New Delhi has stated that there are more than 1500 Nepali working at Afghanistan.
Government remains silent as Nepali migrant laborers are exploited through manpower agency’s fraud, approval, airport security, vaccination and now the airfare. The airline fares have tripled from pre-COVID days as the flights were chartered but the fares still remain same even now when the flights have resumed to normal.
Tourism sector organizations have requested government to arrange vaccination for all citizens at the earliest and to tourism service providers within 30 days. Whereas Nepal Tourism Board, Pokhara has already started inoculating the tourism service providers and workers.
Government has initiated the procedure of sending Nepali migrant workers to South Korea after almost 1.5 years. The government has requested tender for ticketing from Kathmandu to Seoul at August 18 due to the compulsion of direct flight to Seoul. South Korea has put forward the condition of life insurance, quarantine and flight fare to be paid by the employees themselves.

A 65 year old man accused of raping a 13 years old girl has been arrested in Kapilvastu. The girl was reportedly raped while she was grazing cattle in nearby forest.
Dead body of 16 years old girl who was missing since August 16 has been found from Sarlahi Lalbandi Municipality-17. The cause of her death has not been found yet and the case is under investigation.
Laborers exploited at Carpet factory in Jorpati as workers had limited option for sustenance during the lockdown period. A Pregnant woman was reportedly over exploited, was denied the basic services and was tortured mentally as she escaped from the factory.
