Dead body of Dalit man recovered: Police recovered dead body of a Dalit man from Mithuawa village in Rautahat on November 30. Police suspect the deceased was beaten to death. The body was sent to the hospital immediately for post-mortem. Further probe is on-going.

Data collection of returnee migrant workers: Government has begun to gather information of returnee migrant workers in order to provide them with employment. As per CCMC report, over 150,000 migrant workers from 60 countries have returned home thus far. For 90% of the migrant workers, the reason to return was loss of employment owing to COVID-19 crisis.

Gorkha witnesses 14 rape cases: As per the police data, 14 incidents of rape were recorded in Gorkha from July to November. The data shows maximum rape cases were of minors. Victims in 10 cases were children were aged between 6 to 15 years. Police also stated that 4 to 6 rape cases, in an average, are recorded in a month.

UN in Nepal denounce Mahottari rape case: UN office in Nepal has issued a statement denouncing the rape and murder of a six-year-old girl from Bardibas on November 26. The statement admonishes the concerned authorities to abide by due process and ensure the prosecution of the perpetrator. National Human Rights Commission also issued a separate statement urging police to use minimum force while tackling the protestors.

Baitadi’s ward chairperson held for settling rape case: Ward chairperson of Baitadi along with six persons are in custody on the charge of settling a rape case for 11.56 grams of gold on November 29. The chairperson provided gold to the victim to prevent her from registering the case. The perpetrator of rape still is yet to be been found and police is searching for him.

Honour Killing: A 17-year-old girl was killed by her parents on November 11. Upon the investigation, police found that it was a case of honour killing. The deceased had an extra marital affair and subsequently divorced and was living with her parents. The love affair was unacceptable to her parents as it would bring shame to the family. Police arrested six individuals involved in the murder, along with the mother, on November 29.
