News Digest: International Relations & Foreign Affairs (December 16 – 22, 2021)


The government has begun the clearance process required for India to perform a final local survey (FLS) for the proposed cross-border railway line between Kathmandu and Raxual, an Indian town near Birgunj. India will conclude the FLS report within 18 months of the commencement. The railway construction is estimated to take five years after the land clearance from Nepal.

British Army has provided Covid-19 medical equipment to Nepal Army. The equipment includes a PCR Machine, Venturi Reservoir Masks, among others.

The ruling coalition has formed a three-member committee chaired by Jhalanath Khanal to develop a report on MCC. The alliance will decide based on the committee’s report. The other two committee members are Narayan Kaji Shrestha and Gyanendra Bahadur Karki.
