Indian politician’s controversial statement: Biplab Kumar Deb, chief minister of Tripura state of India quoted Indian Home Minister Amit Shah stating that BJP would build a government in Nepal. Amit Shah, during a meeting, stated that after forming governments in most states of India, BJP is looking at forming governments in Nepal and Sri Lanka— insinuating that these nations are a part of India. Understandably, the Nepal government and embassy in India expressed reservations over this statement. The southern neighbour is expected to clarify this on the weekly Thursday presser.

Logistics support for upcoming the polls: The election commission has expedited its preparations to hold polls at late April-early March, after PM Oli dissolved the House two months ago and called for elections. The Finance Ministry undoubtedly requires logistics support from the neighbouring countries which have been conveyed through the MoFA; the Election Commission has not directly sought support from any other country and left it up to the Finance Ministry to make necessary arrangements. However, uncertainty over the elections still hovers due to the impending court verdict.
