Bharat Shah, Minister for Internal Affairs and Communication of Madhes province, filed a resolution proposal in the Provincial Assembly for the implementation of the Provincial Police Act. Minister Shah filed the proposal to gain the attention of the federal government and Members of Parliament to implement the act. The federal government has been reluctant to implement the police act, even though, the bill had been passed three years earlier.
On February 6, Chief Minister (CM) of Province 1, Rajendra Rai, has increased ministries from seven to 13. CM Rai has given full shape to the cabinet after three months, and he was appointed as the CM on November 2, 2021. Similarly, the CM of Madhes Province, Lalbabru Raut, has appointed Nagendra Ray Yadav as state minister for the Ministry of Industry, Forest, Tourism, and Environment.
On February 6, CM Jeevan Bahadur Shahi of Karnali Pradesh has appointed five ministers who are not members of Parliament. The full Ministry was only achieved 3 months after Shahi’s appointment, who was appointed as CM on November 2, 2021. Meanwhile, Advocate Sher Bahadur Khatri and Adv. Tika Bista filed a writ at High Court, Surkhet against the Chief Minister of Karnali Office and Council of Ministers, claiming that the office has ignored inclusion requirements during cabinet expansion.
On February 5, a cabinet meeting of Madhes Province has formed a high-level committee to identify and resolve the farmers’ problem related to fertilizer, irrigation, seeds, inundation, insurance, and develop strategies. The high-level committee was formed under the coordination of the Ministry for Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives, Bijay Kumar Yadav and the other four members from different provincial ministries.
On February 6, the cabinet meeting of Province 1 dismissed two offices—Koshi Refreshment Centre and Provincial Special Road Planning office to reduce administrative expenses. Now, the two projects run under the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning. Similarly, the cabinet also adjusted eight offices. Moreover, the Provincial government has also increased the three Krishi Gyan Kendras to fourteen centres now.
On February 5, the Karnali Province has completed four of its establishment of the provincial government. The provincial government has mentioned that the Karnali government has been able to finalize the province’s name its capital city and formation of laws.
The government of Karnali Province is preparing to send a helicopter to rescue those people trapped by snowfall in different parts of the province. Recently, the Karnali Province has rescued 55 people. The government is also preparing to provide food items for the victims.
