As of June 2025, Nepal and China have advanced their BRI cooperation by signing a new framework listing ten priority projects. However, most projects remain stalled due to political disagreements, funding concerns, environmental rulings, and geopolitical sensitivities. While China continues to invest in Nepal’s energy and infrastructure sectors, implementation is slow. Nepal insists on grants or low-interest loans, aiming to protect its national interests and avoid debt risks.
